Countries with strange names

Strange countries on Prewar DXCC and Postwar lists The very first Prewar DXCC list did show some problems how to call countries. Was the name Curacao or Netherlands West Indies? Abyssinia or Ethiopia? Writing history is not easy. Often names change or get another significance. Or the name has more than one meaning. Changes of names happens often in the ARRL Countries List. Therefore you find here a big list of most of those changed names. But the list doesn’t tell anything about the changes which did occur before of after the start of the Postwar DX Century Club (DXCC) on November 15, 1945. And surely the list doesn’t tell which part of history caused the change.
