The Deleted DXCC List

Deleted Entities (Countries) Remember the days when you started to chase DX. There were two lists to see. One was the Current list of Countries (Entities). The other was the ones you missed. It was the Deleted List. Wayne, W7NG, reminded me that when we first started watching this list in the ‘50s, there was a prefix that started with a NUMBER. That was 9S4, Saarland. It sounded exotic, to say the least. Where was this place? Where was Manchuria? Trieste? Those were DELETED, so it wasn’t interested, just curious. Like most of you, I focused on those still counted as NEW ONES We all tried to climb that ladder. The Deleted List was of no real concern because it was UNREACHABLE. These were the words of Jim McCook, W6YA . He had a major interest in those Countries and produced two PDF files .which you can download here if you not have done allready. I added these lists of Jim, W6YA with the rest of the missing Entities. below you find all Deleted Entities, sorted on the date they became Deleted. Most of the pages are illustrated with the powerpoint pages of W6YA. And, where possible, I put some extra info about those UNlREACHABLE ones.

Deleted Entities

Even the fact that these Entities do not count anymore for your DXCC award you can use the QSL card of these Old Ones for the All-time DXCC award according to rule Section 1, rule 1 (a-q) of the DXCC Rules. But only if the the date of the QSO lies in the period that the Country (Entity) did count for the Postwar DXCC. Example: If a QSL card of a QSO made with New Foundland shows a date on or before March 31,1949, the card count as credit for New Foundland. But if that QSO was made after the date mentioned (date of Deletion), the QSL counts for Canada (VE). Deleted Entiteiten do NOT count for the DXCC Honor Roll the 5-Band DXCC and the DXCC Challenge Awards. Withdrawn Entities There are also DXCC Entities which were once on the DXCC List, but NOT ended on the Deleted List. These are the Withdrwn Entities. Restored Entities Also there are Entities which became deleted, but they found their way back to the Current DXCC List.. These Entities, the Restored Entities have their own DXCC history. These countries still count for the DXCC award.. The Failed Entities The DXCC Entity story is not complete without telling something about those Entities which could be or not could be addded to the DXCC list because of award rules problemacy.
