About me I am born in 1944, at the end of WW II in a place, called HEERLEN, a miners town in the south-eastern part of the Netherlands. Here I lived for 23 years. When I became a teenager, I got involved in our nice hobby, HAM RADIO. That time I was learning to become an electronic engineer. One of the teachers noticed my big interest in all what was called radio. He introduced me to another student on the technical high-school. That student became one of my best friends. His call PA0INA I got involved in an affair with the sister of PA0INA. His sister became my XYL Annie .We are married in August 1965. We got 2 kids, a girl born in 1967, and a son, born in 1969. We lost our daughter, very suddenly, in 1994. A big picture of her is hanging in my shack. She was more like me, while our son is more like his mother. Annie's full christian names are: (ABM) Anna-Barbara-Maria. So now you know why I am signing PA0ABM. My XYL Annie passed away in October 2017. Also her picture is hanging on the wall. Our son got married in May 1996, they have 3 kids, a boy and two girls. To be closer to our family we changed provinces. After living for almost 40 years in the province of Zeeland, we moved to Huijbergen in the province of Noord-Brabant.

I got my license back in 1964. I started with a mixture of CW and Phone QSO’s. As I got more experienced in CW, the Phone part became smaller and smaller. I am now devoted to CW. Until 2004, I never used more than 100 Watts. You could call me "a little pistol" on radio. Lately I did use a very small amplifier, 400 watts, which helps me in pileups. Today you can find me also in FT8 and FT4 using the calls PA0ABM and PC6A (contest call). I like it to collect stories about Hams, DXpeditions, DXCC etc.. And I like to write own stories about ham radio. You can find these stories here.
All about DXCC, DXped, DXing and much more
